Story

Exposure (City)

Septa Eleanor comes to you, looking grave. "I just summoned the Silent Sisters for one of the men you sent north," she says quietly.

"We have him restrained, tied to the bed with belts," the septa says carefully. "Maester Lucas says if we let him go, he will run until he dies."

"Oh, no. Please tell me you're not saying what I think you are."

Septa Eleanor

"We believe he was exposed to the Shiver," the Septa concludes. "He's had all the symptoms. Fever, bleeding, shaking..."

"We must care for him compassionately. The gods charge us to tend the sick."

"How much danger are we in?"

Septa Eleanor

The septa does not try to reassure you. "It's impossible to say. We've isolated him in his rooms, but someone will need to dispose of the body..."

"He must be killed, before he can spread this any further."

Eleanor looks appalled. "He can't care for himself! If you throw him out, you only ensure he will frenzy and spread the plague, just as the others have."
Septa Eleanor looks fearful. "Indeed they do. I shall pray to the Mother for mercy... and the Father for courage."
"My [lady/lord]!" Septa Eleanor is horrified, but you silence her, saying, "He will die. That we already know. If he dies now, maybe others will be spared."
