Tears form in Cressen's eyes. "Oh, lad," he says. "I don't have his pride's best interests at heart." He leaves, shoulders slumped. Kirth watches him depart.
Cressen nods, "If war comes, I hope Stannis thinks like a warrior, not a king trying to prove himself." He departs with a determined set to his shoulders.
Cressen unburdens himself of his fears and frustrations. Kirth listens. After a time Cressen pats his shoulder. "Thank you, lad." Kirth murmurs, "Of course."
